Long Stripes Scarf
Sizing Information
52 inches long (62 inches counting the fringe) by 7.5 inches wide,
Gauge: 4" swatch = 26 stitches and 14 rows
Materials
- COLOR A (Caron Simply Soft (Chocolate) (less than 1 skein))
- COLOR B (Caron Simply Soft (Plum Wine) (less than 1 skein))
- COLOR C (Caron Simply Soft (Pink) (less than 1 skein))
- Size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
- Yarn needle or large darning needle
InstructionsBody of Scarf
- Cast on 180 stitches with COLOR A. Knit 5 rows.
- Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
- Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR A and knit 6 rows.
- Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
- Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR A and knit 6 rows.
- Change to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR C and knit 6 rows.
- Change back to COLOR B and knit 2 rows.
- Change to COLOR A and knit 5 rows.
- Bind off in COLOR A
- Weave in your ends with a yarn needle or large darning needle
Fringe
- There are 7 tassles on each end of the scarf.
- Each tassle is 9 strands each of COLOR A, COLOR B, and COLOR C.
- Place first two tassles so that each one is near a corner. Add the third tassle in the center. Add two more (4th and 5th) so that they look evenly spaced between the end and center tassles; repeat on the other side with 6th and 7th tassle.
- Repeat the above on the other end of the scarf.
Alternative Instructions for the body of the scarf
- Cast on 180 stitches with COLOR A
- Row 1-5: Knit with COLOR A
- Row 6-7: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 8-13: Knit with COLOR C
- Row 14-15: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 16-21: Knit with COLOR A
- Row 22-23: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 24-29: Knit with COLOR C
- Row 30-31: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 32-37: Knit with COLOR A
- Row 38-39: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 40-45: Knit with COLOR C
- Row 46-47: Knit with COLOR B
- Row 48-52: Knit with COLOR A
- Bind off with COLOR A
